Greenhope - flies the last and wins with ease.
GRAND DAY OUT FOR GREENHOPE
Nicky Henderson fulfilled an ambition when Greenhope won the race named after his late father, the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase. The Seven Barrows trainer saddled four in the race and it is was one of the lesser fancied, Greenhope (20-1), who landed an emotional victory. Andrew Tinkler sent his mount to the front at the fourth fence where the favourite Andreas came down. Greenhope responded to his rider's urgings in the closing stages and held Tiger Cry by two lengths, while Madison Du Berlais stayed on well to take third just a length behind. Nyrche was fourth. An emotional Henderson said: "It doesn't take a lot of guessing that this is very special. "It really is a fairytale, this had always been the plan, to have a sort of scatter gun approach and thankfully it has paid off," he said. "Myself and Mick (Fitzgerald) gave it a lot of thought and he stuck loyal with Tysou because we couldn't really split them. "Caracciola also was primed for this but had a bit of trouble in running. "This horse has always had a lot of ability but he has also had his problems. He had a nice prep over hurdles the other week and it was no secret that this was the plan."
